A matching gift challenge issued by Graduate School Dean Tom Reynolds in June helped raise $18,693 for the UNC Charlotte Student Emergency Fund.
UNC Charlotte has distributed more than $7.8 million as CARES Act Emergency Grants to more than 7,000 students. Federal requirements, however, prevent some students from benefiting, such as new students, international students, undocumented students, and those who are enrolled only in Distance Education.
"The UNC Charlotte Student Emergency Fund fills an important need among current and future students, including international students, for assistance with unexpected, unforeseen and unavoidable emergency expenses," Reynolds said. "This is an excellent opportunity for us all to show our students we truly care."
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Student Emergency Fund has awarded more than $430,500 to 1,231 students.
