Kennedy Honored: Belk Business School faculty and UNC Charlotte leaders were on hand recently for the unveiling of the plaque honoring Dr. William F. Kennedy’s contributions to the University. UNC Charlotte faculty and leaders gathered Oct. 3 to honor Dr. William F. Kennedy, a former professor in the Belk College of Business, by dedicating Cato 248 in the Graduate School the William F. Kennedy Conference Room.
Kennedy made a lasting contribution to graduate education with the establishment of an $18,000 fellowship that provides full tuition support, fees, and health insurance for UNC Charlotte students who have both a financial need and academic promise.
“Dr. Kennedy had a tremendous and lasting impact on the students and colleagues he touched,” said Tom Reynolds, UNC Charlotte Associate Provost and Dean of the Graduate School. “We are honored to have this memorial as a lasting reminder of his contributions.”
Kennedy, who died in 2015, served on the faculty in the Belk College of Business from the late-1970s to 2006 where he taught and conducted research in the fields of banking and finance. He also served for a time as Interim Chair of the Department of Finance.
