Rajan Puri, a doctoral student in mathematics, on June 15 was awarded the David Merchant International Student Award for Achievement by the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars. Selection for the award is based on scholastic achievement and participation in international educational or community activities.
Puri is a graduate teaching assistant and a Graduate Life Fellow (GLF) at the Center for Graduate Life. GLFs offer guidance and promote engagement through first-hand experience, peer mentorship and graduate student events. He also supports the Office of Internatinoal Programs and serves as president of the Mathematics Graduate Student Association where he has organized and promoted events aimed at creating a sense of community among graduate students.
A native of Nepal, Puri has been a member of Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars since 2017 and is a member of the University’s Global Graduate Student Committee.
