A graduate education session for prospective students launched in January provides a real-time link between programs and interested potential students.
Hosted by Graduate Admissions representatives Maryanne Maree-Sams, Director of Graduate Recruitment and Post-Baccalaureate Student Advising, and Ellie Ivey, Graduate Enrollment Coordinator, the first session on Jan. 21 connected 90 students with 40 programs in simultaneous break-out rooms.
“The session is designed for prospective students starting an application and applicants who have an application in process, said Marie-Sams. “Our Admissions staff provide a general overview about admission requirements, application process, test requirements, funding opportunities and financial aid. Then the participating program representatives meet directly with prospective students in virtual breakout rooms.”
GPDs and program representatives use the sessions as an opportunity to answer questions and present information on program admission requirements, the selection process, funding and assistantship opportunities and career outcomes.
"I think (this program) shows a great collaboration between the Grad School and programs,” said Amy Peters, Asst. Director, Senior Lecturer and MSW 3-Year Program Coordinator for the School of Social Work. "Through events like these, applicants may sense how strongly we work as a team and they may feel even more drawn to become part of our UNC Charlotte community."
Another information session is scheduled Mar. 18 with limited seating available on a first come, first serve basis. For more information and to register, please visit the Graduate Admissions Information Session page.
